Dragon’s Dogma 2 is finally here, but not without a few issues. Some players are getting stuck on the Compiling Shaders screen, causing the game to freeze and not progress. Thankfully we’ve figured out how to fix Dragon’s Dogma 2 stuck compiling shaders. Here’s what you need to do.
How to get past being stuck on Compiling Shaders
If you get stuck on the Compiling Shaders setting on Dragon’s Dogma 2, especially when launching it for the first time, you can fix it by restarting your game. Even though it’s possible Compiling Shaders can take a long time the first time you launch Dragon’s Dogma 2, if it’s going on for longer than 5-8 minutes, then something went wrong. Usually, the process just timed out or got stuck along the way.
Restarting your game will fix it being stuck on Compiling Shaders, and will pick up the process wherever it got stuck. For most players, this seems to happen right at the end of the Compiling Shaders process, so restarting will get you right into the game.
However, if you restart the game and still get Compiling Shaders, it’s possible something is preventing the process from completing. Here are some further steps you can take to fix being stuck on Compiling Shaders:
- Make sure you’re updated to the latest video card driver. Both AMD and Nvidia have released special drivers for Dragon’s Dogma 2, so make sure you’re updated!
- Restart your PC. I know it’s annoying, but a lot of games, Dragon’s Dogma 2 included, install various system files and frameworks the first time. Sometimes a quick restart helps these frameworks load correctly.
- Reinstall Dragon’s Dogma 2. It’s another not-fun process, I know. But it’s possible that some files were corrupted or not installed properly on install. Simply reinstall Dragon’s Dogma 2 and it can fix this issue.
For most players, restarting the game will fix the Compiling Shaders stuck bug on the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma 2. But if not, one of the above fixes should resolve the issue for you.
