Sometimes, a game is so good that when we finish it, we have to jump right back in. But some of us prefer to not lose any of our hard work, which is what New Game Plus (NG+) is for. If Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a game you want to experience again, here are the details on starting over.
How to start New Game Plus
This may seem obvious, but New Game Plus unlocks once you’ve completed Dragon’s Dogma 2. This applies to any of the endings (yes, there are multiple). You don’t need to reach the “true” ending to get New Game Plus, but you might want to reach for it anyway.
Once the game is complete, you’ll get a dialogue asking if you want to start New Game Plus. If you select it, you’ll be asked if you’re sure that you’re sure. It’s worth considering. You only have one save file in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so you won’t be able to pick your completed game back up once you choose to start NG+.
If you decide you don’t want to sacrifice your save on the altar of New Game Plus, you can instead load your last save, or from the last time you stayed at an inn.
If you do choose New Game Plus, things will get real familiar real fast, but here’s what you get to keep.
What carries over in New Game Plus
The answer to what carries over in New Game Plus is: Most things. You keep all your experience (both general and vocational), as well as your main Pawn and their experience. You also keep all gold, rift crystals, and items you collected aside from quest-specific items. Even your map will be the same, with the exposed areas that you’ve explored.
You’ll still start off at the beginning of the story at the prisoner camp. After your griffin ride, you can report in at any inn to grab your gear and continue as you were.
The main thing, again, is that all quest progress will reset. This includes sidequests, so if you made one choice on your first playthrough, you can see what other paths the quest can take. If you were using Portcrystals to get around, you’ll need to replace these.
Is there a hard mode in Dragon’s Dogma 2
No, there is no hard mode in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Not yet, at least. This may change in a future content update, but for now, New Game Plus just lets you replay the story as it was without having to rebuild your arsenal.
