As part of the Wholesome Snack Showcase, Happy Broccoli Games has revealed their investigative adventure, Duck Detective: The Secret Salami. It will be coming to PC sometime in 2024.
Happy Broccoli Games has stated that Duck Detective: The Secret Salami is a 90-minute detective game, and that sounds perfect. It’s inspired by Return to the Obra Dinn and The Case of the Golden Idol, and has you, the eponymous duck, gathering clues, interviewing suspects, and putting the pieces together to find out who did the crime. What crime? Something to do with sausages.
That’s about all we’re told. It takes place in an office, so I assume someone ate their co-worker’s lunch. I cannot imagine ever doing that. I can’t imagine the kind of person who would. And yet, it happens. That’s so weird and maliciously inconsiderate. Who raised these people?
I like the sudden surge of detective games in the indie and alternative markets. It has gotten to the point where I can’t keep up with them, but most of the ones I’ve played have been really enjoyable. They make me feel smart, even if I’m just painting by numbers.
I also like seeing a game advertise its short length. Often, we get too caught up on time spent per dollar, but I don’t want to live in a world where every game is 60 hours. Some of them? Yes. But not all. I’d like to pick one up for afternoon entertainment. Such as Dangeresque The Roomisode Triungulate, which is also roughly 90 minutes. It’s great! There’s no reason for me to not play this game. Even if I don’t enjoy it, what have I lost? I spend more time a day killing my brain with Social Media.
Duck Detective: The Secret Salami is set to arrive on PC sometime in 2024.
