The team behind Dying Light 2 is taking a little extra time for its first big DLC. Developer Techland announced today that the first major story DLC for Dying Light 2 has been pushed from early summer into September.

In a statement, Techland said that it’s been working on adding some much-requested features over the last few months, as well as a new in-game Chapter. The story DLC, however, needs a little extra time in development.

The studio does note that in June, that first Chapter titled “In the Footsteps of a Nightrunner” will arrive, alongside a photo mode. You can check out the updated roadmap for Dying Light 2 below, via the Dying Light Twitter:

The second Chapter in Dying Light 2 is also aiming for the September-November block. Beyond that, it looks like a second story DLC is slotted somewhere in the future. Both are paid DLC.

The road ahead

Techland has been pretty public about its commitment to support Dying Light 2 for five years. And the new zombie survival adventure only launched a short time ago, in February 2022.

It’s a long road from here to five years from now, as anyone will tell you. Still, it sounds like the plan is to support Dying Light 2 as much as Techland supported its predecessor. The original parkour survival experience got some hefty post-launch support with expansions like The Following, so that seems ideal for Dying Light fans.

It’s a bit of a bummer to see a delay if you were holding out for this particular update. That said, it’s still a weird time in game development. Even today we’ve had some big shifts in expected timelines. A little extra time will hopefully let Dying Light 2‘s first big story DLC make the right first impression.
