Dynasty Warriors 7 released in Japan today and Koei Tecmo has wasted zero time in throwing up the downloadable content. Most of it is free, but there is one paid set that pisses me off.
The free stuff is a range of costumes from previous Dynasty Warriors games, so if you don’t like the new designs, you can swap them out. Today, players can grab outfits from Dynasty Warriors 6, with costumes from Dynasty Warriors 5 expected next. On March 17, you can also download new background music from past games, starting again with DW6.
The paid DLC, costing ¥100, is a new set of “Senka” weaponry, known to fans as Yue Ying’s original Scythe. Basically, this confirms my belief that weapon and movesets have been limited in the main game so that Koei can sell you more diversity later. I am not very impressed by this development.
I mean, giving us Sima Yi’s finger-whips would be stupendously badass, but there’s no reason why they couldn’t have been included in the first place. I am now going to shake my fist to the clouds and shout, “KOEIIIIIIIIIII” in a fit of nerd rage.
