As part of their Darksiders II coverage, Game Informer asked Vigil Games how they feel about the new Nintendo console. Vigil told them that they are still wrapping their head around most of it, but they already have some ideas for using the new controller to do things like inventory management. However, they are not very interested in “any gimmicky stuff like with the Wii launch games.”
Vigil also believes that Wii U ports will not necessarily be inferior to other versions of a multiplatform game. In fact, when technical director Colin Bonstead was asked whether the Wii U version of Darksiders II might be the best one, he replied that he believes so because “the hardware is more powerful and it will have some extra features that I think will be actually useful to people playing the game.”
That doesn’t mean you need that version to simply play and enjoy the game, just that it might offer some extras.
