We got our hands on Turtle Beach’s SEVEN series here at E3, and they sound and feel as good as they look. Billed as their flagship product developed specifically for Major League Gaming, you may be curious to know that at their core, the headsets for all three models in this line are exactly the same, allowing customers to upgrade within the line-up by purchasing the additional modular elements. Oh, and they have removable speaker plates thanks to fan demand!

It all starts with the MSEVEN, the mobile version for the Vita/3DS and other handheld devices. Upgrade to the ZSEVEN by purchasing the control unit that manages volume, presets (teams can make their own team presets in addition to official developer-distributed ones), and a connection that supports the use of phones and music players. Get to the top-end XPSEVEN by adding the console interface.

The TM-1 tournament mixer is all about chatting with your teammates for local play. Up to six people can connect and can be split up into any sort of team configuration. Multiple TM-1 units can be linked for teams larger than six, and volumes and microphone sensitivity can be adjusted for each individual user which is a pretty cool feature.

Are you still surprised that Turtle Beach has been named MLG’s official headset producer? Will you be picking up anything from the SEVEN series?
