EA proves Bad Company 2’s popularity using numbers

According to Electronic Arts, DICE’s Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is enjoying healthy sales at retail. So healthy, in fact, that the publisher has passed along a few numbers to prove it.

The first? The publisher says the game is “on pace” to be the best selling title in March; there have been over 2.3 million units sold-through in North America and Europe. Good for them, right? Game’s pretty good, so a well deserved success, indeed.

More numbers for you, straight from EA:

  • 81B points have been earned in online multiplayer sessions
  • 43M weapons and gadgets have been unlocked in online multiplayer
  • Over 6M video views on YouTube
  • 2.9M hours have been spent playing online in the last 24 hours alone
  • 230K peak-concurrent-users (PCUs)
  • Over 44k Twitter fans (most out of any EA title)

The game’s popularity may explain the server issues many people have been experiencing. But Battlefield franchise Executive Producer Karl Magnus Troedsson says that’s in the past.

“DICE and EA have brought more servers online,” he says. “We now have enough capacity to handle all Battlefield: Bad Company 2 connections seamlessly and we continue to monitor online play daily.”

So how’s that working out for everyone?
