EA’s new Canadian studio gets a red light

Electronic Arts’ misfortune continues, as the former dominatrix of the games industry has announced that plans have been scrapped for new studio in Vancouver, Canada.

Citing lower-than-expected revenue figures and ongoing global economic problems, EA has had to give up its hope of a 20,000-square foot facility in Vancouver’s Yaletown district. No clue was given as to what the studio’s focus was intended to be, and no hiring target was made known.

It’s still disgusting that Eletronic Arts has been rewarded for its recent good turns with economic problems, lower-than-expected sales and ultimately, large staff cuts. This news comes on the same day we learn that EA picked up Double Fine’s highly anticipated Brütal Legend. That just sucks.
