‘Loud, insistent fan feedback’ is key
Speaking to Game Informer, NetherRealm’s Ed Boon seems up for a horror fighting game based on all of the recent inclusions over the years of horror icons in Mortal Kombat games. It’s an idea he’s been visiting “frequently,” and “one day” maybe him and his team will do it. He also briefly touches on the idea of guest characters in Injustice 2, saying that Scorpion’s appearance in the original Injustice was “the most downloaded of all the characters.” So if you aren’t keen on that practice, don’t expect it to go away anytime soon.
In a refreshing change of pace, Boon explains that fan feedback is actually a good thing for his studio, even “loud, insistent” feedback. He notes that one of the biggest ways they decide on which characters should make the cut is based on people suggesting options, and that they’re “always listening.”
WB might do questionable things from a business perspective, but Boon and his team are definitely a good bunch.
