Gears of War 3 has received an official USK 18 rating in Germany, meaning Germans won’t have to go across the border and import a copy of Zahnräder des Krieges 3 this time around. Epic Games president Mike Capps told Joystiq he was pleasantly surprised with the move by the ratings board, especially since he didn’t think the final chapter in the Marcus Fenix trilogy would be easier to pass.
“To me, Gears 3 is not just more of Gears 2, but tons more. … It doesn’t immediately strike me as something easier to pass through. It’s not a modified version there. We have a “no gore” filter, but we’ve had that for Gears. We didn’t do anything special for Germany this time.”
When asked if they had plans for resubmitting the previous two games or perhaps as a Triple Pack, Capps said: “That’s a fantastic idea. We didn’t try to submit it at all. I don’t think anyone thought to. We’ll give it a shot.” If that happens, I think my eastern neighbors can thank Joystiq for that. Nice job!
