Worlds Within a World
“It seems kind of silly dedicating a monument to a computer game,” Hilmar Veigar Petursson, CEO of CCP said to begin the ceremony for a statue erected in the honor of the EVE universe. Anywhere else and that might be the case. In Reykjavik, Iceland, it feels wholly appropriate.
That’s because it doesn’t even take a day in town before you’re hit by the staunch realization of how much this game means to the city. Upscale cafes have EVE posters in their windows. People that look to be from all walks of life showed up at the ceremony in droves. Hell, now there’s a monument right on the harbor.
Fanfest doesn’t properly begin until May 1, but for all intents and purposes, it just started. With a statue to commemorate a game that’s meant a lot to a city, EVE enthusiasts are set to gather to celebrate a title that’s meant a lot to them. And, we’ll be here to cover it each step of the way.
