You are a Pirate
So far, Namco Bandai’s Soulcalibur VI roster is filling up with all the famous faces. There’s stoic samurai Mitsurugi, the spider-walking Voldo, deadly kunoichi Taki and even buxom noblewoman Ivy. But where is the scourge of the Seven Seas and keeper of fabulous moustaches, Cervantes?
Although not revealed just yet, the master pirate’s silhouette has appeared as part of a cut-scene in SCVI’s deep-lore story mode, Soul of Libra. That was a neat bit of evidence, but no specific confirmation. However, Gamescom 2018 featured a lot of news and video of the upcoming fighter and one particular clip might get Cervantes fans a bit giddy.
Whilst showing off the returning character customisation mode to IGN, a default model appeared, who was rocking a suspiciously familiar dual-bladed stance and fighting style. Although in the past Soulcalibur has included recognisable custom movesets in the Create-a-Soul mode, the combination of knowing the moveset is in-game, but coupled with the story mode silhouette, the recent ESRB rating – which mentioned that fighters battled with weapons – including “a pistol” – and it’s starting to look positive that yer boy will be sailing into battle soon.
There are only a couple of slots left on the main roster, so hopefully the charismatic seafarer will confirm these suspicions with an official announcement and trailer soon. Soulcalibur VI launches October 19 on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
