Extreme ‘Martyrdom’: An explosive Modern Warfare 2 glitch

Recommended Videos

I normally abide by the “if it’s in the game, it’s totally fair” way of thinking, but not when it comes to things of this nature. An exploit for Modern Warfare 2‘s multiplayer has been found, and it’s looking like a major pain in the ass. If you thought the “Martyrdom” perk was annoying, you haven’t seen anything yet.

Essentially, the glitch allows you to explode upon death using a launcher, with the most popular choice being the javelin. Since the javelin has a pretty sizable blast radius, you could potentially use the exploit to take out a couple of nearby players, and make a few new enemies along the way.

Whether you find this to be highly annoying, or just plain funny, it won’t be around for much longer. Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling says a fix is being worked on right now, and that it’ll be submitted to Sony and Microsoft “as fast as possible.”

Similarly, the update for the PC version — which doesn’t need to go through cert — will be going out as soon as it’s in working condition. Also, getting caught abusing this will result in an Xbox LIVE suspension (thanks, Knivy).
