Yahoo really should stick to doing what it does best — being a collection of completely obsolete services. It certainly can’t do anything else, like provide accurate information on videogame accessories. The site recently reviewed some Christmas gifts that customers should avoid, and stated that the PS3 was “all fun and games until the battery dies.”
Yahoo thinks that PS3 controllers need to be thrown away when they run out of power.
“It’s all fun and games until the battery dies,” claims Yahoo writer Anne Kadet. “Unlike its competitors, which use replaceable AA batteries, the PS3’s remote control is glued shut. When the battery goes, Sony customers have to blow $55 on a new controller.”
Simply amazing. However, it does make you wonder if this is one isolated case of ignorance, or if there are PS3 owners out there who also haven’t realized that PS3 controllers are rechargeable and have bought a new DualShock 3 each and every time. That’s quite a terrifying concept, if you ask me. Some of these people could be out on the road, driving. Driving and that stupid.
As pointed out, she could mean when the battery eventually dies, but seriously, who even does that? Who criticizes a rechargeable product on the basis that it will eventually die in the far-flung future? The way she presents it, she provides no clue to readers that the controller can be recharged at all. So really, she’s either a fool or intellectually dishonest. In any case, Yahoo should stop talking about games.
