Fallout 3 censored in Japan: Nuke gets nuked

Recommended Videos

For some reason, Bethesda seems to believe that Japan might have a sort of sensitivity to nuclear bombs, and as such, has made some slight edits to Fallout 3 ahead of its December Japanese release.

The Power of the Atom sidequest and its principal character, Mr. Burke, have been removed, which means you can no longer make a certain detonation and destroy certain things in certain nuclear blasts. It has also been made clear that a weapon’s name has changed, since it was deemed “inappropriate.” One can only assume this refers to the Fat Man missile launcher. Obvious reasons apply.

According to reports, the reaction from online Japanese gamers has been one of disappointment. Unfortunately, in the evasion of a politcally incorrect sh*tstorm, people inevitably have to get let down. These edits are understandable, but it’s tough luck for the gamers as usual.
