There’s something awfully impressive about the fact that Fallout 76 is still kicking, five years after its infamous release. In fact, it’s just received a major new DLC; one that takes the Vault dwellers to the Jersey Shore, of all places. Enter Fallout 76: Atlantic City – Boardwalk Paradise.
It goes without saying that Bethesda didn’t miss a beat in leveraging Atlantic City’s emblematic entertainment options. Boardwalk Paradise is chock-full of gambling mini-games (unless you’re from Belgium, Czech Republic, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Libya, Pakistan, Poland, or Thailand, as per the YouTube listing) that may remind players of New Vegas‘ The Strip. The vibe of the Atlantic City follows the tried-and-true casino aesthetic that Fallout players are already familiar with, which is a great sign of what’s included in Season 15.
Fallout 76’s Atlantic City – Boardwalk Paradise Expedition is now available
The latest of Fallout 76‘s Expeditions takes players on a mad romp through the post-apocalyptic Atlantic City. What’s really interesting about this retro-futuristic, nuclear version of Jersey Shore is that it’s got running electricity, as it was a low-priority target during the Great War. This meant that Atlantic City could persevere and retain much of its former charm, setting the stage for the events of Fallout 76.
Some of the most notable features of the Atlantic City DLC include cooperation with The Family, the resident gang, and an opportunity to exterminate a whole array of new mutated monstrosities. A particularly interesting highlight is the new cryptid, the infamous Jersey Devil.
More broadly, players can look forward to a selection of new quests and rewards, but this is just scratching the surface of Bethesda’s longer-term plans for Fallout 76‘s Atlantic City. Even though the game’s rendition of Jersey Shore and Atlantic City doesn’t yet have an open-world element to it, Bethesda has promised this feature would launch as part of patch 50, which is due for release in March 2024.
