Fallout MMO? Interplay says yes!

The Fallout games are a series that has seen better days. Once the epitome of PC RPG gaming, they’ve been reduced to crap RTS games and even more crap console shooters. While Bethesda scooped up the rights to a true Fallout sequel, Interplay, the original publishers of Fallout, managed to hang on to the rights to make a Fallout MMO, and according to this SEC filing, they intend to do just that, and very soon.

If there is a god up there in his magical cloud castle, I hope he realizes just how important this game would be. With the massive fan base of the Fallout RPGs and a backstory that eclipses that of the Warcraft universe, if Interplay doesn’t screw this up, it really could compete with Blizzard’s behemoth.

Sadly, Interplay is no longer the company who brought us the original Fallout games or Baldur’s Gate, The Bard’s Tale, or Descent. My hope for this game (of which there is a vast amount) is tempered by the cold hand of reality, and the even colder hand of Blizzard. It would take a hell of an MMO to compete in the current market, and only time will tell if Interplay has the talent to do so.

What do you guys think? Do you want a Fallout MMO? Am I alone here?
