With less than 24 hours until Dawntrail releases for early access on June 28, Final Fantasy XIV released the full patch notes for the first patch of the expansion, Version 7.0. If you’ve read the preliminary patch notes, not much is different, but let’s highlight the biggest changes.
FFXIV patch notes: The biggest changes in 7.0
Picking apart the novel’s worth of patch changes over on the Lodestone post may take even the biggest enthusiasts all evening, but there are, like always, staples to look out for. Below are the highlights of what you can expect when Dawntrail rolls out.
- New cities and field areas have been added, each with their own unique Aetherytes:
- Tuliyollal
- Solution Nine
- Urqopacha
- Kozama’uka
- Yak T’el
- Shaaloni
- Heritage Found
- Female Hrothgar is now a playable race
- Graphical update has been implemented for all areas and select gear
- Pictomancer and Viper have been added
- Tomestones of Comedy and Causality have been removed
- Facewear slot has been added in the gear menu
- Two channel dye system has been implemented
- Tuliyollal Markets added, with a new Marketboard design
- Term Filter has been added
- Blacklist system has been updated, and Mute system added
New MSQ in Dawntrail
- New quests have been added
- MSQ quests
- Side quests
- Job quests for all Jobs, including Pictomancer and Viper
- Role Quests
- Wachumeqimeqi Deliveries have been added
- New Leves have been added and existing Leves adjusted for the new level cap
- New FATEs and Special FATEs have been added
- Shared FATEs for Dawntrail regions have been added, as well as new Gemstone Traders and rewards
- Spire of Trial has been added, and will be accessible once players meet requirements
- New dungeons and trials have been added
- New elite marks have been added, as well as Hunt vendors in Dawntrail areas
- PvP Series 6 will begin, running until the release of patch 7.1
Changes to existing content in Final Fantasy XIV
- Wondrous Tales
- New rewards will be available
- New duties have been added to the roster
- Raids (both 8-player and 24-player) will now be grouped into the following groups, completing any raid from the group will earn a seal:
- Eden’s Gate
- Eden’s Verse
- Eden’s Promise
- Alliance Raids (A Realm Reborn)
- Alliance Raids (Heavensward)
- Alliance Raids (Stormblood)
- Alliance Raids (Shadowbringers)
- Alliance Raids (Endwalker)
- Requirements for obtaining Mentor status have been adjusted in line with the new level cap
- Existing Jobs have been adjusted, with new actions added or existing ones removed
- ‘Duty Roulette: 50/60/70/80’ has been changed to ‘Duty Roulette: High-level Dungeons’ and level 90 dungeons have been added to the category
Quality of life updates in Version 7.0
- Hide nearby players when approaching or interacting with a quest NPC or object
- Indicator added to help in follow quests
- Emotes and ingredients needed for quests can now be selected from the Duty List
Other updates from the FFXIV patch notes
- ‘Tribal Quests’ will now be known as ‘Allied Society Quests’
- Bicolor Gemstone cap has increased from 1,000 to 1,500
- Large-scale FATEs from Stormblood onwards will now appear on the map
- Loboskin Treasure Maps and Br’aaxskin Treasure Maps have been added, although the new treasure dungeon (Cenote Ja Ja Gural) will not be added until patch 7.05
- New craftable items added to Company Workshop, including the new house skin

- New prizes are available from the Gold Saucer
- New Triple Triad Cards have been added, as well as new NPC opponents
- New enemies have been added
- Grade XI and XII Materia have been added
- Grade 8 Dark Matter can now be used to repair gear up to level 100
- Faerie Tale Prince and Faerie Tale Princess outfits can be equipped by either gender
- Yellow and White Scrips have been removed
