The wait is nearly over, it’s almost time for our long awaited summer holiday, and Tuliyollal looms on the horizon. We have a release date for Final Fantasy XIV and now comes the moment of truth — can your setup run Dawntrail, or do you need to buy a whole new rig?
Well thankfully the news we’ve all be waiting for came right at the beginning of today’s Live Letter. Now you can at least find out before you try to run Dawntrail, because the benchmark is available as of April 14.
Where to download the Dawntrail benchmark
The FFXIV benchmark download is now available on the official Dawntrail site.
The benchmark includes a newly updated character creation, including the first ever chance to create your own female Hrothgar in all her glory. Once you’ve downloaded the benchmark, simply run the program and open it when installation is complete.

FFXIV Dawntrail benchmark trailer
The trailer for the benchmark is enough to get anyone excited, but look closely during those fight scenes. If you feel obliged, slow it down to 0.25 playback speed. You’ll see not only an entirely new Job action for each Job, but also what appears to be a new outfit for each Job as well. I’m particularly excited by the Dark Knight and Reaper gear.
