The Final Fantasy XVI Kuza Beast hunt is one of the hardest to find in the game as it’s actually part of a side quest. You can’t actually go off and find it, unlike other hunts. It’s also behind the deaths of many as you discover the background of a prison you explore. Here’s how to find the Kuza Beast and how to beat it.
How to find the Final Fantasy XVI Kuza Beast hunt
Unlike most other hunts, you won’t be able to get to the Final Fantasy XVI Kuza Beast boss right away. First, you’ll need to complete the Self-Determination quest after reading your missives in Clive’s room. Head over to Martha’s Rest and speak to Dorys to start it. She’s in a back alley around a corner. But that’s not it. After finishing Self-Determination, speak to Dorys again but at The Hideaway. She’ll give you the Nobody’s Tool quest. As you’re going through this side quest, you’ll realize it actually leads to the Kuza Beast hunt.
After getting a new key to a corridor on the first floor, you’ll find a little girl in the prison. This is when the beast makes its presence known. Head over to the Kuza Beast in the arena and give it the revenge Clive likely craves. You can’t let it escape the prison.
Before you take on this foe, make sure you’re well equipped with Potions and High Potions, maybe even an Elixir. Upgrade them as well. This monster reduces your HP quickly, so you’ll want as much help as possible.
How to beat the Kuza Beast
As soon as you begin the battle, dodge. It will charge straight at you with its claws. If you see it moving its backfoot, it will swing its tail twice. Make sure you dodge it in time. Be careful of its claw attacks too. Each hit will cause 500-700 damage on Clive, depending on your level and stats. The Kuza Beast is Level 40.
One of the best ways to take down the Kuza Beast is to use your Limit Break often. It will bring down its stamina bar quickly, and these fast attacks are successful against this slow monster. For the best success, use Aerial Blast from Garuda. It ups the damage multiplier quickly when the Kuza Beast is stunned. Pair that with strong attacks like Ignition and Flames of Rebirth to bring the pain.
The only major ability it uses is Comet. Each fireball causes 700-800 damage, and a lot of these fireballs appear on the screen. Thankfully, it shows where each fireball will hit on the ground. Avoid these spots, but keep in mind that once each fireball hits the ground, a ripple of flames will emerge. Dodge this again to avoid getting engulfed.
Overall, this is a fairly easy A-level boss to defeat, despite its huge appearance. The hunted monster Gizmaluk is slightly easier, however. If you want more of a challenge, face Terminus.
