“Players will step into the shoes of a young man in the year 2024 as he arrives in California to pursue his dreams of road domination and capture the Californian cargo transportation market. There are miles of highways to conquer and cities and towns to reach as he becomes the greatest trucker on the highways.“
That is seriously from the press release that came with the Rig’n’Roll assets.
So, yeah. Players will get to play as a trucker as he tries to corner the California market on trucking. You’ll deliver cargo, get in races and you’ll eventually be able to establish a cargo company and manage the thing. Hire staff, hire drivers and expand your business until there’s no competition left.
There’s over 12,000 miles of road in the game taking you to over 40 different California cities such as San Francisco and Los Angeles. It could potentially take you a few hours to get to one point on the map to the other, in fact. There will also be realistic weather and day and night cycles.
I played with Rig’n’Roll very briefly at the 1C Company event and wasn’t all that impressed with the game. Controls were stiff and the graphics looked somewhat last-gen. It did remind me a lot of Sega’s 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker for the Dreamcast, but without that arcade feel.
Rig’n’Roll will be out sometime this year for the PC. Check out the trailer and photos in the gallery after the break.
