Save your seals and make decisions based on more info
Depending on your cache of seals (which are used to promote characters to different classes), swapping character roles in Fire Emblem Engage can be stressful. The good news is that great things come to those who wait! Here’s how to make the most out of the character promotion system, and why you should think about leveling you characters as-is more often.
Consider leveling your characters to 20 in a class before promoting them
To change classes inĀ Fire Emblem Engage, you need to go through a few confusing menu options. Open the main menu, select “inventory,” then select a character. You’ll have the option to “change class.”
When you level a class to 10, you have the option to make a lateral move into another class with a second seal item, or upgrade into a more advanced class with a master seal. While the latter option seems enticing, especially in the moment, you may want to hold off. If you wait until level 20 (the maximum cap), you’ll get a higher stat yield, which will in turn transfer over to the new class. Alternatively, you can also use a second seal at level 20 to reset your stats, and remain the same class (just re-select that class again).
How you choose to proceed is entirely up to you, and could depend on the difficulty level you’re currently playing at. With that said, there are instances where promoting characters early could be beneficial, as diversifying your party and gaining access to more spells (especially healing) or ranged options could be the missing link you need for a future mission or paralogue.
