He has a series documenting the liquid happiness that is beer
I don’t think there is anyone who really doubts the legacy of BioWare, easily one of the most influential studios in interactive media. It came as somewhat of a surprise then, when the company’s founders Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka left the company to pursue other interests — beer and charity, respectively.
After leaving BioWare, Zeschuk went on record saying that he no longer held the same passion for games that he once did, opting instead to create somewhat of a documentary series/talk show about craft breweries in Austin, Texas titled The Beer Diaries.
Those of you who have been around Destructoid for a while will remember that when I did the Daily Hotness recaps, I often chose to include a very small beer review along with it. As a budding beer fan, I jumped at this series. Anyone who’s even tangentially interested in the fine art of making liquid, hoppy magic.
Each episode is first launched at local premier events where he brings out the brewers and some dedicated Austin beer fans and gets them together to talk, watch and drink at the Alamo Draft house. Yesterday he put up a new episode on YouTube, just in time for St. Guinness Day. It’s a great episode and you should totally check out below. Also, if you’re looking for a good beer for this Sunday, Greg recommends the Left Hand Milk Stout, because it’s one of the best anythings ever made.
Also, he’s totally getting the Lifetime Achievement Award at GDC, alongside his former partner in game development, Ray Muzyka. I can think of few people who have done more to help shape the modern game industry than those two, and I hope they do well in their future pursuits.
