France offers tax credits on games, giving Jack Thompson le finger

Days like today make me wish I was a Frenchman. Not just for the slutty women or the ability to smoke in and around preschools, but also because France is one of the few countries that truly understands video games. On Thursday, the French Ministry of Culture announced that France would begin offering tax credits to companies who develop games on French shores.

See, France understands how important games are and how important they will be in the future. Video games are the new rock and roll, and they will eventually bloom into that kind of stratospheric economical milieu. France is taking steps towards guaranteeing their economy gets a slice of the pie and if the rest of the world could stop trying to blame video games for everything from deadly rape to deadly swarms of bees, they’d do well to learn from the French.
