Age of Conan: Unrated, a digital re-release of 2008’s Hyborian Adventures, is bringing sexy back this summer. Funcom is doing what many MMO developers have found success in: turning a once-retail game into a free-to-play title.

Premium subscriptions will be offered, naturally, but they are completely optional. There’s an overview of how the content is split up between paying and non-paying customers over here, if you’re curious.

Just the other day I watched James Earl Jones fire a snake with a bow (!!!) on TV, and it reminded me of Age of Conan. Surprised to hear it made it this long before switching over to a new business model.
