Despite bundling 10 Game Boy Advance titles for the 3DS Ambassador Program last year, Nintendo has announced no plans to officially bring GBA games to the eShop. NES titles were likewise part of the Ambassador package, but at least those are gradually being made available for public purchase. What’s the dealio, Nintendo?
Nintendo Australia’s eShop software page has recently been updated, adding a Game Boy Advance category to its Virtual Console spread. So far, there’s only one title listed: the Classic NES version of Dr. Mario. It seems odd that the first GBA title on the service would be an NES port. Why not just, ya know, release the NES original instead? Or an actual GBA game? Makes no sense.
However, if this isn’t some kind of mix-up and Aussie Nintendo did in fact let the cat out of the bag, it’ll only be a matter of time before the other regions announce their plans. Better start making your software demands now, guys! My vote is for Rhythm Tengoku. The rest of the world deserves to play the legend that started it all!
