GameStop puts employees in fat suits, people rush to buy fitness games

Today, GameStop employees — under corporate guidance, nonetheless — proved that there is something worse than annoying potential customers with uninvited videogame commentary. In a publicity stunt for GameStop’s new “Sharpen the mind and shape up the body” initiative, two employees stalked a few Los Angeles shopping centers with fat suits on.

The goal was to show people that being overweight isn’t pretty and that videogames like Wii Fit or Dance Dance Revolution could help burn calories. Something tells me that the employees failed to prove that point. As for the mind portion of the puzzle, it’s likely that the fat-suit-wearing couple were able to illustrate what happens when too many brain cells shrivel.

Keep up the good work, GameStop. I’m sure the exposed people marched right into your stores and bought the targeted merchandise.
