After Nintendo announced the DSi last year, I pretty much decided that I had no real reason to get one. The camera thing is cool and everything, but my old DS Lite was still working just fine, and after hearing that the battery life of the DSi was supposedly shorter than the DS Lite’s, it just seemed like a useless investment.
Of course, then I hear GameStop will be taking preorders for the thing starting tomorrow, and I find that I have this strange itch to go order one anyway. It’ll set you back $25 to stake your claim on one, which, of course, goes towards the $169.99 purchase price.
If you have a shred of common sense, you will already know this, but I’ll repeat it just because: if you want one, you need to reserve it. If you think you are going to strut into any store on the launch day of a new Nintendo product and get one without a reservation, you may have to kill and climb over the bodies of soccer moms and fifteen-year-old girls to get there.
