Wondering if Mama will be able to skillfully make the transition from the kitchen to the garden? Fire up your Wii and you can grab a a demo of the upcoming DS game, which comes out this May.After you get the demo, you simply transfer it to your DS via Wi-Fi connection and you’re good to go. I wish we could see more demos of DS games like this — take notice, Nintendo!

I’m wondering if Babysitting Mama and Crafting Mama are going to be anything like this as well or if they will follow the same general formula. I have to admit I am a little curious to see what Mama’s reaction will be like if I manage to destroy her petunia beds, which I have no doubt I will do at least once. I think she’s still pissed that I can’t seem to get that lasagna recipe off the ground.

GARDENING MAMA DEMO ANNOUNCED
DEMO AVAILABLE ON Wii CHANNEL FROM 24TH APRIL

Milton Keynes, 24th April – Gamers of a green-fingered persuasion will be able to sample the latest in the Mama series early when the Gardening Mama demo goes live on Nintendo’s Wii channel. Available from 24th April, the demo will be available to download and transfer to DS via Wi-Fi connection.

The demo gives players a sample plant to grow and demonstrates ten stages of game play, which include sorting the bulbs, tilling the soil, applying serum and spraying for pesky creepy crawlies. As has become the series trademark, all stages are conducted under the watchful eye of Mama, who will save the day should your gardening skills abandon you at the crucial moment.

Gardening Mama hails from the same developer as the famed Cooking Mama series of games, the original of which has gone on to ship well over 1.5 million copies and counting. The accessible and colourful nature of this quintessentially Japanese series has made the eponymous ‘Mama’ an instantly recognisable favourite amongst casual gamers and Japanophiles alike.

The full version of Gardening Mama will be available from 1st May exclusively for Nintendo DS.
