At gamescom today, Harmonix CEO and co-founder Alex Rigopulos revealed that tracks from Queen, Nirvana, Tom Petty, Iggy Pop, The White Stripes, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn, and The Rancontuers would be coming to Rock Band.
No other details really on that, really. That’s about it. Here’s probably why he mentioned those artists in particular: Many of them — Queen, Nirvana, Elton John, Tom Petty, and Iggy Pop, for example — are all set to debut in Guitar Hero 5 which hits shelves on September 1. Way to try to steal some thunder, guys — it just might work.
Additionally, Rigopulous also gave a few details on some things we already know about the full album DLC for The Beatles: Rock Band. Abbey Road will release on October 20 for $16.98 (or 1360 MS Points), or for $1.99 (160 MS Points per track). But get this — it comes with a bonus. Those who download the full album will have the option to play a 16-minute b-side medley track featuring “You Never Give Me Your Money,” “Sun King,” “Mean Mr. Mustard,” “Polythene Pam,” “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window,” “Golden Slumbers,” “Carry That Weight,” and “The End.”
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band hits in November, with Rubber Soul following in December. The Beatles: Rock Band will be available on September 9, with the first piece of DLC — “All You Need Is Love” — being available exclusive only Xbox 360 for a limited time ($1.99, or 160 MS Points). Portions of the proceeds of the sales will benefit Doctors Without Borders.
