At its press conference at gamescom today, Sony announced that a Digital Reader will be making its way to the PlayStation Network this December.
Currently announced is a partnership with Marvel Comics that will bring some of its biggest properties to the service, including comics and graphic novels featuring Spider-Man, X-Men, Wolverine, and more. While other partners weren’t revealed, the comics won’t be limited to Marvel; comics from other publishers, including independents, are said to be announced at a later date.
Also of note is that the Digital Reader won’t be limited to comics, hinting that magazines and even full books could be found on the service in the future. No details on pricing or potential subscription fees have been announced. Marvel currently offers its comics in a digital format with its Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited service, offering both monthly and yearly subscription options.
