There’s something upgradable underneath all that hack and slash in Dante’s Inferno. It’s called the ‘righteousness system,’ a gonzo moral choice-fueled way to earn skills and make Dante more powerful.
This by the way of EA’s gamescom press conference.
Players will be given the choice to follow a righteous or evil path, decided by the impact of choosing to ‘absolve’ or ‘punish’ wayward souls and villains. After the choice, a (moral)experience points are given, which can then be applied to a stat-bubble grid. Punishing players will net a stronger scythe. Those walking the righteous path will have a stronger crucifix weapon.
When I played Dante’s Inferno Gen Con ’09, I stumbled upon a person chilling on the ground. When I walked up to him, I was prompted to ‘punish’ or ‘absolve’ him. I punished and received nothing. That build was old, but you get the idea: this kind of choice is a rather easy thing, just a few minor button presses seals the deal.
Dante’s Inferno hits in North America on February 9th and across Europe on February 12th. Gear up!
