I understand that Geometry Wars and its sequel, brilliantly titled Geometry Wars 2, are something of Xbox Live Arcade mainstays. I also understand that some of you might be disappointed to hear that Bizarre Creations is so busy working on Blur that Geometry Wars has been rather unceremoniously kicked to the curb: “Right now we don’t have any plans for Geometry Wars 3 or anything,” said Bizzare Creations’ Gareth Wilson, speaking with Kotaku.
Now, I’m no game developer, but I’m sure just how much further you can really stretch a game about blowing up hexagons. Seems to me that Bizarre Creations have done pretty well for themselves, considering that there are already three Geometry Wars games, not to mention the teams is slap in the middle of Blur development
But Wilson wasn’t totally dismissive: “That doesn’t mean that at some point (Geometry Wars designer) Stephen (Cakebread) won’t have a genius moment and will start working on it, but right now Stephen is working on all sorts of other projects.”
So dry those tears and hop back into Geometry Wars — I’ll be busy filing Geometry Wars 3 in the “sequels that nobody really needed anyway” folder.
