There’s nothing quite like a port of a five year-old game to get you stoked about your brand new system. Hey! Wait! Come back! I’m being serious! D3 Publisher is bringing Earth Defense Force 3 Portable to PlayStation Vita and I’m legitimately excited to take the “so bad it’s good” shooter around for another spin.
Probably better known on this side of the Pacific as Earth Defense Force 2017, Sandlot’s 2007 Xbox 360 release is shedding its exclusivity after half a decade to find a second home on the Vita with some subtle enhancements. No, the graphics are still as ugly as sin, but four player co-op might be a welcome addition if you have a few other friends interested in saving the world from giant bugs.
While it’s currently only slated for an autumn release in Japan, I’d be surprised if D3 didn’t bring the title westward at some point considering the series’ cult popularity and the dearth of software available for Sony’s new portable.
