The main complaint leveled at Dante’s Inferno other than the fact that the game is bastardizing a great work of literature is that it is simply a God of War clone. We here at Destructoid found it to be a very good God of War clone and thus eliminated that from our complaint book as doing something well, even if it isn’t entirely original, is still doing something well.
One of the men behind God of War 3, director Stig Asmussen, seems to be of the same opinion as he has come out saying that the GoW team was immensely curious about Dante’s Inferno. “We’ve been intrigued about Dante’s Inferno. This is my favourite genre, and the more people that are making [these games] the better,” Asmussen told the UK Official PlayStation magazine.
“And this is a really rich story they’re building on, it’s very interesting. The day that the demo came out we were trying to download it on PSN at midnight. We all wanted to see it,” he added.
He kind of stops short of saying he got the game, but that could be because the interview was conducted before the game actually landed. Print publications are so behind the times like that.
