Last we heard of Cory Barlog, he was believed to be working on a Mad Max game at Avalanche Studios. Prior to this, he served as the writer/director of God of War II and was also involved with Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta. Square Enix has announced that he’s now with Crystal Dynamics.
The studio is currently working on the promising new Tomb Raider in addition to an unannounced game. “Cory’s heritage in building industry-defining action adventure titles, together with our focus on delivering quality character-driven blockbuster entertainment, makes Cory a tremendously exciting addition to the team,” said Crystal Dynamics head Darrell Gallagher.
What this move means for the aforementioned Max Max project isn’t entirely clear. Avalanche founder Christofer Sundberg told Eurogamer that he “can’t comment on our project, but all I can say is that the projects we’ve been working on for the last two years and the one we recently started up in NY are sailing along like never before.”
