Since it launched in 2022, Gran Turismo 7 has consistently received new content to keep racers coming back to burn rubber. Today, a new update arrives, and it brings something for everyone.
The update will be available from 11:00 PM PST, and Polyphony is touting it as the biggest since the launch of the game. Although both PS4 and PS5 players will get the update, some features will only arrive for the current-gen console. There is a trailer for you to watch as you wait for the patch to download.
Everything included in the Gran Turismo SPEC II update (patch 1.40)
With the Gran Turismo 7 update, you’ll get the SPEC II opening movie. You’ll also get 7 new cars. They are:
- Dodge Charger R/T 426 Hemi ‘68
- Dodge Charger SRT Demon ‘18
- Lexus LFA ‘10
- Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II ‘91
- NISMO 400R ‘95
- Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) ‘22
- Tesla Model 3 Performance ‘23
The update also comes with a new circuit – Lake Louise – and it comes with 3 layouts, namely the Lake Louise Long Track, Lake Louise Short Track, and the Lake Louise Tri-Oval. You can also expect 3 new Extra menus, a new Event Directory button, and the inclusion of Gran Turismo Sophy 2.0 the AI assistant on PS5.
There have been 50 new challenges added to the licenses, and a paddock area in multiplayer where you can connect with other players. The update also brings changes to the World Circuits. This comes in the form of 5 new regular events:
- World Touring Cars 900: Trial Mountain / Nurburgring / Suzuka Circuit / Autopolis
- X2019 Nations Cup: Interlagos Circuit / Sardegna Road Track / Dragon Trail / Trial Mountain Circuit / Lake Maggiore Circuit
- World Rally Challenge Gr. B: Lake Louise
- Japanese 4WD Challenge 600
- Pick-Up Truck Race: Lake Louise
You’ll also get two expert race events:
- Clubman Cup+: Watkins Glen International / Special Stage Route X / Fuji Speedway / Monza Circuit
- GT Cup Gr. 3: Mount Panorama / Daytona International Speedway / Deep Forest Raceway / Red Bull Ring
Gran Turismo has had a great year. In addition to a VR mode being released for the PS VR2, a movie was also released that tells the story of Jann Mardenborough.
