Great Pretender, the exciting heist anime that was made available via Netflix in the Summer of 2020, could be teasing another season to be announced very soon. In a post made via Twitter, the official Great Pretender account reveals a “new release” will be announced on November 18 at Anime NYC.
In the post, an 18-second video serves as a highlight reel of the first season’s exploits, with the tagline “the greatest con artists return to the party,” which seems like a strong gesture towards another season.
In any case, the announcement will take place at a special panel held from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. ET in Panel Room 1. The panel is set to feature George Wada, the president of Production I.G. and Wit Studio; Hiro Kaburagi, the director of Great Pretender; and Hitoshi Ito, the anime’s producer. According to Anime NYC’s website, those in attendance will be “invited to be the first to watch the world premiere and win some specially prepared presents from the guests.”
As stated, Great Pretender was released globally via Netflix on August 20, 2020. It ran for 23 episodes across four story arcs, with each arc covering a unique heist for the primary characters to pull off. I don’t wanna spoil it for anyone reading, but if this announcement is indeed a second season, let’s just say it’ll be more than welcomed with the ending of the season finale taken into account.
