Guerrilla is reportedly eying co-op for Horizon Zero Dawn 2

New rumors about the ‘gigantic’ PS5 sequel

Horizon Zero Dawn fans have been expecting a sequel on PlayStation 5, but what about co-op?

As reported by Video Games Chronicle, it’s believed that developer Guerrilla Games was at one point planning Horizon Zero Dawn 2 for PlayStation 4 – but it’s now set for a PlayStation 5 release. The team also looked into releasing a “standalone co-op game preview” that would let players carry their progress into the sequel. The latter idea might not still be “in place,” but co-op of some sort is.

Horizon Zero Dawn 2 is said to be ‘gigantic’ in scope with a larger game world and more freedom to explore it than in its predecessor,” according to multiple sources who spoke with VGC.

“People with knowledge of the game also indicated the inclusion of a co-op feature, although it’s not clear if this is delivered via the main story or a separate mode.”

The outlet also believes that Horizon Zero Dawn will be a trilogy of games.

I wasn’t necessarily expecting co-op in Horizon Zero Dawn 2 or even asking for it, but I think there’s probably a way for Guerrilla to retain the single-player story focus that people loved in the original while also incorporating other players in some way. I’d love to see something original, not tacked-on.

If it doesn’t pan out, oh well. I’ve always got (non-robotic) hunts in Monster Hunter: World.
