Killzone 2 launched this Friday, backed up by massive preorder numbers and critical acclaim. Despite this, however, Guerrilla’s hot PS3 exclusive has come under fire from critics and fans for a few issues, most notably its control scheme. Answering the ongoing critique, Guerrilla Games producer Seb Downie is adamant that no changes are needed.
“After carefully looking into this, reading the posts, talking to a lot of you directly and analyzing the controls at GG we have come to the conclusion that there are no changes required to the system,” he explains. “If at all, any changes to the controls would put the majority of people who have not had problems or have adapted out of whack, which may be more serious.
“It is not a twitchy, split-second gun-wielding experience like some shooters. Also, the online experience is quicker as we’ve made the controls and animations a little faster during design.”
I find myself agreeing with Downie on this. Killzone 2 certainly requires adjustment, and the player will need to tweak the options, but now that I’m used to the way the game handles, nothing really bugs me at all. What do you reckon? Are you satisfied with the weighty feel of Killzone 2, or did you want something twitchier?
Our full review of the game is due to hit Destructoid tomorrow, so stay tuned for that!
