Guild Wars 2 hasn’t even officially launched yet, but a dedicated player in the early access game has managed to grind his way to level 80 already. French user Surfeuze is officially the first player to hit the level ceiling.
Surfeuze pulled off the feat by playing normally until his character hit level 60, then used experience from the crafting system to max it out. It took thirty-two hours according to ArenaNet Mike O’Brien.
Amusingly, O’Brien at first accused the player of using exploits to gain an advantage, saying: “Be aware that this was not through normal leveling. A few users have made us aware of unusual ways to level very fast. We’re fixing these issues as I type.”
O’Brien later discovered that Surfeuze was legitimate, relying on a “strong team” in his guild to get the crafting components and not using any shady tricks. He apologized and congratulated the man on his feat.
