As you progress through the Arcana system in Hades 2, you may want to get more out of certain Arcana. While getting a single Death Defiance is nice, having more would be great, especially for some of the later, much more difficult levels. Thankfully, there is a way to do just that. Here’s a full guide on the Moon Dust resource in Hades 2, and how you can use it to get more out of your Arcana.
What is Moon Dust in Hades 2?
Moon Dust is a resource unlocked via completing the Consecration of Ashes Incantation at the Incantation Cauldron. If this Incantation isn’t unlocked for you, you should progress through runs until it is mentioned by Hecate when fighting her. Once you unlock it and spend the resources, make your way to the Meditation location in the equipment room (where you select Arcana cards).
Here, you should see a new button you can press in the bottom-right of your screen to reveal Insights. Doing this changes the board and lets you upgrade individual Arcana using this Moon Dust resource. For example, upgrading The Titan Arcana card costs two Moon Dust, and increases the Max Life and Max Magick values from 20 to 30. Each Arcana card has a different Moon Dust cost, with later Arcana upgrades requiring additional resources alongside Moon Dust.
How to get Moon Dust
There are three main ways to get Moon Dust in Hades 2. The first, and easiest, is to visit the Wretched Broker in the Crossroads. Here, you can purchase one Moon Dust for 80 Bones, which are earned either through completing Locations with Bone rewards or by bringing weapons with Grave Thirst applied to them (refer to the Incanatation Gathering of Ancient Bones). Alongside the Wretched Broker, you can spend Obol Points with the Gold Rewards chest next to the Wretched Broker. Spending four Obol Points will grant eight Moon Dust in 80 Whiles. The final method won’t come until much later but is the Moonlit Essence from Shadow recipe in the Incantation Cauldron. This costs one Shadow and one Cinder but will grant five Moon Dust after eight Whiles.
If you want to hard focus one of these, then focusing the Bones for the Wretched Broker is your best bet. It’ll also give you the chance to try out more of the weapon roster, and who doesn’t like a little variety?
