Customize look acceleration, dead zones
A legitimate reason to use a Christopher Walken header image? Today is a good day.
There’s more to next week’s update for Halo 5: Guardians than Forge mode, maps, and REQs. The game is also expanding its control options. You’ll be able to adjust the look acceleration and the inner and outer dead zones, as detailed in this blog post by 343 Industries.
Look acceleration affects how long it takes to hit max look speed while holding the analog stick all the way in one direction. If you liked the feel of Halo 5‘s multiplayer beta, drop this setting down to “2.” The default is “3,” which “was done in part to help you make large aim corrections a bit faster.”
The inner dead zone is the small area where the analog stick’s center position ignores input. It can be adjusted to better prevent the camera from drifting. Similarly, the outer dead zone can help with slow turn (“when you are applying 100% input on the look stick but not reaching top look speed”). Lastly, there’s The Dead Zone. It’s one of the better Stephen King film adaptations.
