They won’t make the campaign launch day, but they could arrive before end of year
It sounds like we could be getting some playlist updates for Halo Infinite, and before the year’s out at that. Community manager John Junyszek confirmed today that playlists are in the works for Fiesta, Free-For-All, and Tactical Slayer (a.k.a. SWAT).
Junyszek says they won’t arrive by Dec. 8, the launch date for Halo Infinite‘s single-player campaign. But the team is trying to get these new playlists implemented in the multiplayer side before the end of the year.
Let's talk about Halo Infinite playlists!
We've been reading your feedback, and we're working on plans to add Fiesta, Tactical Slayer (SWAT), and Free-For-All playlists as we speak. They won't land by Dec 8, but the team is pushing to get them in before the end of year 👊— John Junyszek (@Unyshek) December 3, 2021
While FFA and SWAT have been somewhat possible using custom game tools, these playlists will hopefully make it easier to queue up and play those modes. Fiesta, meanwhile, was already featured as part of the Fracture: Tenrai event.
“Our goal for Events is to try new modes prior to adding to playlists,” said Junyszek. “We’ll monitor playlist health after the 3 additions above and adjust our offering if needed, but we’re excited to make these updates before the holidays. This is just the start of the conversation with y’all.”
Junyszek also confirmed that a Social Slayer playlist with multiple variations is in the works, but it won’t be ready until after the holidays.
While some big features like campaign co-op and Forge have been pushed further back into Halo Infinite‘s lifespan, it seems like the general reception to Halo Infinite has been good on the multiplayer side. It’s currently leading the audience vote for The Game Awards 2021, and those of us who have been playing at Destructoid seem to be having a good time too. So I have to say, I’m very interested in getting SWAT and other playlists in the Halo Infinite mix.
Halo Infinite multiplayer is currently available on PC and Xbox consoles, while its single-player campaign goes live next week on Dec. 8.
