The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom has been floating around the publisher’s swimming pool looking for a publisher for a while now, but it’s finally been picked up by 2KGames and is getting a release on XBLA early next year. If you haven’t heard of the game yet, it’s all about time manipulation like Braid or the Clank puzzles in the new Ratchet and Clank (the game has been around since 2007 so developer The Odd Gentlemen isn’t simply copying here). The unique thing about Winterbottom is that the different timelines a player creates can be interacted with. For instance, a player could a past self to jump on top of to reach a higher platform.
Anthony “I Explain Games Well” Burch does a much better job of explaining it all in his hands-on with the game. However, the point of this post is not simply to once again enlighten you of the coolness of this game, but to also show you the new screens we received. They’re down there. Right below this. Look at them. Fancy. Also included are Halloween well wishes from P.B. Wintebottom himself, which came with the following warning from the Pie Baker of Bakersburg:
Dear Sir/Madame,
In honor of Hallowe’en, I set forth to bake a most wonderous Chronoberry Pie. To my dismay, the delectable pie has disappeared. If you see this fabulous tart, please be DO NOT EAT IT, as even the smallest bite could cause untold chaos. Above all else, the dastardly pie thief, Mr. P.B. Winterbotom, must not get his fingers on this monstrous treat as the combination could rip the fabric of time itself.
