The cost of rockin’
This news story is only for those who are among the most dedicated to their career as world’s greatest fake cover band. If having access to every song in the Rock Band catalog and having access to 25 fewer Benjamins appeals to you, listen up.
Harmonix has added a new reward tier in an effort to raise more money for its on-going crowdfunding campaign for a PC port of Rock Band 4. The “Collector” level’s main appeal is that it comes with the entire current library of DLC for all of Rock Band. At the time of writing, four people have taken Harmonix up on this offer.
The exact number of tracks isn’t pinned down because licensing issues of individual songs may change before the reward is delivered. However, it should be north of 2,000 tracks. That’s a fair discount over buying them all separately, if anyone were willing to pay $1.99 for every single song.
Also, it’s worth noting that this only happens if Rock Band 4 on PC is actually funded. Things aren’t looking great, as the project is currently hovering around $500,000 raised of its $1,500,000 goal. The campaign still has 11 days remaining, but it’ll need a big shot in the arm to make up that much ground. If it fails, those prospective collectors will have to acquire every single track the old-fashioned way — $2 at a time.
