Heihachi and Sony mascot added to PlayStation All-Stars

Tekken‘s Heihachi and Sony’s Japanese feline mascot Toro Inoue are the latest additions to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale‘s roster. Alongside a lengthy EVO exhibition of these two new characters, a new stage was shown off: Chop Chop Master Onion’s Dojo.

These might not be the additions I expected, but these new characters add some more flavor to All-Stars‘ roster. Let’s take a more detailed look at the new characters and stages.

Heihachi focuses on heavy, ground based attacks, such as palm punches and pile-drivers. This demoed pretty well since Master Onion’s dojo appears to be a less vertically-inclined stage. However, Heihachi has his own quirks that fit the game’s comical style. He can summon Kuma, for one thing. He also has a level three super where he straps his enemies to a giant rocket that launches into space while Heihachi watches through binoculars, cackling.

Toro Inoue has a much more whimsical approach to battle, attacking with a giant mallet and growing an afro. You know, just because. He has a more lighter, aerial focus that wouldn’t make him out of place in Super Smash Bros. For his level three super, he becomes a giant and bashes his enemies with a baseball bat.

Chop Chop Master Onion’s Dojo stage from Parappa should please PlayStation fans.  In addition to faithfully recreating the dojo and surrounding world of Parappa, there is a mech from Killzone in the background. Even better, a giant Master Onion destroys it! Crazy!
