As part of the Nintendo Direct, Sunblink announced that their hit Apple Arcade game Hello Kitty: Island Adventure is leaving behind its mobile exclusivity and coming to Switch and PC (followed later by PS4/PS5 a bit later) in 2025.
If you’re unfamiliar with Hello Kitty Island Adventure, it’s a life simulator starring Sanrio’s ubiquitous cast of cute characters. It’s maybe in the same wheelhouse as Animal Crossing, but not entirely. My Melody (that’s a character) is opening a store in a theme park on a tropical island, and you have been brought along to help. But the park is abandoned, and the trip can only be saved with the power of friendship.
There’s a character creator. You can decorate your friendship cabin. There’s baking. The press blurb says it’s over 100 hours, and I believe them. More importantly: there are no microtransactions. It’s been getting updated with new content since it was first released on iOS.
Hello Kitty: Island Adventure was really well received on Apple Arcade. It was nominated at The Game Awards 2023 for Best Mobile Game, if you remember. It lost to Honkai Star Rail because there’s no justice in our world, but it did win the Webby People’s Choice award as well as the Apple Arcade Game of the Year Award. Kitty’s got papers.
Hello Kitty: Island Adventure is coming to Switch and PC sometime in 2025. It will also arrive on PS4 and PS5 sometime later.
