For the first time in 2024, Hogwarts Legacy is releasing a free Summer update introducing new and returning features. With items like the Onyx Hippogriff, Felix Felicis potion, and the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop questline coming to the game for all platforms, the highlight of this update is the addition of photo mode.
As the official announcement post details, you can take cinematic pictures of your character and the surrounding environment using the newly added photo mode starting June 6, 2024. Although the game featured options to disable your GUI, this is its first time introducing a proper photo mode for picture-taking. The update also includes new and returning cosmetics that were previously only available during the game’s pre-order period, such as the Azkaban Prisoner’s outfit, The Glasses That Lived, and the Lavender Borealis Broom.
The update also features the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest that initially launched as a PlayStation-exclusive storyline, the Felix Felicis potion that reveals chest locations around the map, and a talent point reset feature if you want to try a different build in future playthroughs.
Currently, Hogwarts Legacy’s Summer update will only include these main features, with no new information on DLC or New Game+ plans. While these would have been interesting additions to surprise the community, they won’t be coming this time. There’s no specific timeline for when or if we can expect these to appear.
As a silver lining, anyone who didn’t get the chance to pre-order Hogwarts Legacy and obtain these items will have an opportunity to experience them. For those who pre-ordered and have these features already, you’ll have photo mode to experiment with as the primary new feature of this update.
